Omics Core Facility

Genomics is the study of a person’s entire genome, or complete set of DNA, and the way it interacts with the environment. DNA is a chemical compound inherited from our parents. It contains the genetic instructions that determine how your body develops and functions. At DDI, we attempt to translate the Kuwaiti-population’s genome to determine what are the genetic factors that influence the development of diabetes and its continuous progression.

Our Genomics Core, one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in Kuwait, is aimed at deciphering the genetic determinants of obesity and diabetes in Kuwait and its associated traits. Given the uniqueness of the genetic component of the population of Kuwait, special attention has been given to establishing a state-of-the-art facility that can decode the Kuwaiti Genome.

Our Services

Our Omics Core Facility offers services in Proteomics, Metaolomics and Genomics. Our Proteomics Facility is equipped with latest high-resolution mass spectrometry. The Facility’s service can be provided as a collaborative research project or as a paid service. Our Metabolomics/ lipidomic Facility performs experiments on various biospecimens including Plasma, Serum, Urine Saliva and other biofluids to identify and quantify various small molecules. Our Genomics Core Facility offers comprehensive services and support for the latest ‘omics’ experiments and bioinformatic analysis.
