Service Excellence
Comprehensive Nursing Assessment
At DDI a comprehensive nursing assessment is done on all patients which includes vital signs and blood glucose testing, as well as gathering detailed information about allergies, smoking status, fall risk and overall health. This information is critical for patient safety, planning care, and promoting health.
Falls
Falls in older adults have become a growing concern in recent years. According to studies, approximately one-third of all adults older than 65 years’ experience at least one fall per year, often resulting in serious injuries and fractures. All DDI patients aged 50 and over have a falls risk assessment performed by our nurses with targeted interventions and referrals to services, such as ophthalmology or podiatry, done to ensure patient safety and care.
Vitamin D
Getting enough vitamin D is crucial for healthy bones and teeth. As part of the falls risk assessment, if patients are found to be at high risk our nurses will give advice and information on the importance of keeping our vitamin D levels adequate.
Basic Fitness Assessment
We perform a low impact Basic Fitness Assessment on all patients to evaluate overall health and physical status. This simple, short assessment includes grip strength, basic balance test, a chair rise exercise and short 4-meter walking test.
Multidisciplinary (MDT) working
DDI nurses work across various specialties such as dental, ophthalmology, podiatry/foot screening, and radiology, to provide a safe and holistic approach to patients. MDT working matters, as it enhances early detection of health issues, reduces referrals and delays, improves patient safety and continuity of care. Dedicated training is delivered to our nursing team and yearly competencies completed to maintain the skills to deliver excellent care across all DDI clinic services.
Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC)
Keeping patients safe is our highest priority. Infection control helps prevent the spread of germs and protects everyone- patients, staff and visitors. Our infection control nursing team ensures DDI follow local and international guidelines and procedures. These include measures in hand hygiene, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), clean clinical environmental standards, and the safe handling of equipment.
With the development of DDI’s own IPAC training program, all staff- clinical and non-clinical- complete mandatory IPAC training to empower them with the knowledge and skills to reduce the spread of infection as part of our commitment keep everyone safe.
