DDI continues to focus its research on improving diabetes prevention and management in Kuwait. In 2019, our Sectors sought to facilitate projects that translate our research from the bench to the bedside. DDI's continues to ensure quality, safety and integrity throughout its Sectors. As an Institute, we are accredited Unconditional Diamond Level by Accreditation Canada. Our Clinical Laboratory attained the College of American Pathologists accreditation for maintaining test result accuracy and ensuring appropriate patient diagnostics. Our HIPAA Compliance represents our continuous efforts to protect and maintain the integrity of patient data.
We strive to keep our healthcare professionals in Kuwait updated with the latest information and standards on diabetes and its related conditions. The World Obesity Federation and DDI have collaborated to establish the Kuwait Obesity Academy. In 2019, our GeoHealth Lab was inaugurated and started its' project in collaboration with George Institute of Global Health.
Our Medical Sector uses innovative behavioral interventions to develop educational programs that improve healthcare delivery, patient outcomes and diabetes outcomes. By sharing diabetes-related knowledge to the public, we aim to engage the medical and scientific communities to encourage innovation and research excellence.
DDI continues to be the only training center in the Middle East for DAFNE. Our collaboration has been extended for clinical training, expansion of the DAFNE pump program, health economist training and qualitative training.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, DDI has initiated the National Diabetes Registry. Our registry creates a database for T1DM, T2DM and other forms of diabetes in all age groups.
