Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI), established by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and as part of their Science Month series of events, recently organized its annual World Diabetes Day for the 19th consecutive year. The event, held on November 13, 2025, at Avenues Mall, provided a dynamic platform for visitors to engage with diabetes specialists and dietitians, access medical information, and learn about healthy lifestyle practices.
During the event, DDI showcased a range of ongoing research projects and studies, inviting eligible participants to take part and benefit from its research initiatives. The event featured dedicated booths offering educational sessions on proper nutrition, pharmacotherapy counseling, physical activity guidance, as well as glucose and blood pressure testing, and vital signs assessment.
Dr. Faisal Hamed Al-Refaei, Acting Director-General of DDI, reaffirmed the Institute’s dedication to advancing diabetes awareness, improving health outcomes, and empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to proactively enhance their quality of life.
He added that the main objective of organizing this annual event is to foster greater awareness of diabetes, promote long-term health outcomes, and encourage individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. The event recorded an excellent turnout with more than 1000 visitors and their families benefiting from the services offered throughout the day.
On a related note, Dr. Al-Refaei highlighted the scientific achievements and research milestones accomplished by DDI this year. Up until the third quarter of 2025 alone, the Institute recorded more than 103 research publications.
The Institute also achieved new patents for innovation in different medical and scientific practices.
