DDI’s Chief Scientific Officer, Prof. Fahad Al-Mulla, has been ranked among the top 2% of the most cited scientists worldwide in 2024, according to a survey by Stanford University, announced by Elsevier, a leading global scientific publisher and data analytics company.”


Top 0.5% of All Scholars Globally by ScholarGPS in 2024
Prof. Fahd Al-Mulla has also been recognized among the top 0.5% of all scholars worldwide by Scholar GPS, a global authority on academic performance analytics.
Council Member for the European Association for Diabetes Research
Dr. Fawaz Al-Zaid, Head of the DDI Bioenergetics and Neurometabolism Department of DDI, has been elected as a council member of the prestigious World Council of the European Association for Diabetes Research (EASD). As the first Kuwaiti to join the 10-member international council, this recognition of national talent provides opportunities to contribute to advancing global diabetes research.

Hamdan Foundation Medical Award for 2024
With the participation of Dr. Monira Alarouj, DDI was part of the esteemed team honored with the Hamdan Foundation Medical Award for 2024. The study, Diabetes Risk Calculator for Fasting During Ramadan, focused on monitoring fasting patterns, practices, and outcomes while highlighting the importance of raising awareness and risks assessments for individuals who wish to fast in Ramadan.


Gulf Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes Gold Medal Award
The Chief Medical Officer of DDI, Dr. Ebaa Al-Aziri, has been awarded the Gold Medal by the Gulf Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes in recognition of her outstanding contributions to diabetes research and her numerous scientific publications in International Journals.
National Awards and Achievements

Jaber Al-Ahmad Prize for Young Researchers in Biosciences
Demonstrating the depth of national expertise, Dr. Fatmah Alrashed was honored by the Kuwait Foundation for Scientific Advancement as the recipient of the Jaber Al-Ahmad Prize for Young Researchers in Biosciences during its 34th session.
Best Research Poster Award in Scientific Research Conference at Kuwait University
DDI’s research team participated in the Scientific Research Conference in February 2024. The DDI research team presented multiple scientific research posters. Dr. Fatmah Alrashed won the Best Research Poster award titled: “ACSL1 is a key regulator of inflammatory and macrophage foaming induced by short-term palmitate exposure or acute high-fat feeding.”


Ongoing National Collaborations to Advance Knowledge Transfer and Research Capacity
In 2024, DDI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kuwait Institute for Science and Research (KISR) to facilitate the exchange of research experiences. In addition, DDI continued to collaborate with the Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH) and Kuwait University (KU) on multiple projects covering various scientific disciplines.
Best Research Presentation Award
DDI was honored with the Best Research Presentation award titled “Navigating the Complexities of PKDI Duplicated Regions: Impact on the Clinical Effectiveness of Whole Exome Sequencing in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease Diagnosis.” at the Health Science Center Conference held on February 2024, at Kuwait University.


DDI Wins the Best Health App Award DasmanSwitch
In December 2024, DDI received the Best Health Application Award in Kuwait for the DasmanSwitch app at the 12th Arab Media Forum. The purpose of DasmanSwitch is to increase health awareness and make health information accessible to all.
Safety Star Award by the Ministry of Health
In August 2024, DDI’s Diagnostic Imaging Center (DIC) was awarded the “Quality and Accreditation Management 2023 Safety Star Award” by the Ministry of Health for their innovative project titled: “Innovative Techniques in Improving Patient Radiation Safety in CT Scanning.” DIC successfully implemented “DoseWatch,” a cutting-edge tool which precisely monitors the radiation dose administered to patients in real-time highlighting DDI’s commitment to ensure the highest standards of care and patient safety.
