Dr. Jasim Alabbad is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Kuwait University and a Consultant in General and Colorectal Surgery at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital. He completed his medical education at Kuwait University, followed by general surgery training at McGill University in Canada, subspecialty training in colorectal surgery at Michigan State University, and a research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic.

He holds board certifications from the Canadian and American Boards in General Surgery, as well as the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Dr. Alabbad possesses extensive administrative and leadership experience. He has previously served as the Head of the Department of Surgery at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital and as the Chair of the Council of Surgery Departments at the Ministry of Health, with appointments to several ministerial regulatory and oversight committees.

Academically, he has played a pivotal role in curriculum development and medical education and training at the College of Medicine, where he also chaired the Clinical Skills Lab. Dr. Alabbad remains actively involved in surgical education, providing ongoing training and examination oversight within the Kuwaiti Board of General Surgery program.

On an international level, Dr. Alabbad serves as the Kuwait Governor to the American College of Surgeons and is an active member of the Self-Assessment Committee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

His academic and scientific contributions include more than 24 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he actively participates in international conferences, scientific meetings, and training workshops both regionally and globally.

Dr. Alabbad is currently serving as the Director General of Dasman Diabetes Institute.
