Our two-week internship program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to engage in a meaningful work and learning experience in the field of clinical skills as an Assistant Trainer in the CSC. The program requires 40 hours of work, or approximately 4 hours a day, at the internship site (CSC) and completion of a reflective work under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.

The goal of the internship program is to provide students with work experience in an actual professional setting aimed to expand their academic, professional, and personal learning.

Assessment

Interns must:
1. Demonstrate adequate preparation on scientific knowledge of the clinical contents of the courses and be able to transfer these knowledge during teaching and clinical skills simulation.
2. Acquire and demonstrate requisite clinical skills and knowledge in clinical skills and simulation.
3. Demonstrate the knowledge, awareness, and attitude needed to demonstrate professional behavior.
4. Apply interpersonal and communication skills that is safe and effective.

An intern is expected to submit a 1000-1200 word Reflective Essay on his/her learning achievements in relation to the two-week internship program. Student must critique the practical applications of this program to his professional and personal life and how this program has impacted his real life role as a student. Be able to explain the strengths and weaknesses of this program and suggest future action plan for the program.

The written output should have a formal academic structure that includes introduction, main body, and conclusion.

Minimum of five references should be included.

  • You will be able to apply what is learned on their academic undertakings as a student.
  • You will gain awareness of the professional expectations in today’s work environment, including the development of knowledge, skills and attitude needed to demonstrate professional behavior.
  • You will gain clarity and understanding in their future career directions in the field of teaching and simulation.
  • You will be able to identify personal values and developmental needs as life-long learners.
