The Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI) was honored to launch its 1st Diabetes Patient Conference “I Decided to Change” “عزمت أغير”on Thursday, April 5th, 2012, from 4:00 PM till 10:00 PM. This event aimed to enhance the general awareness about diabetes and to empower people with diabetes to actively be involved in the management of their condition. This unique initiative was coordinated by the Clinical Pharmacology and Public Relations and Media Services Departments. It was conducted in collaboration with the Clinical Services, Nutrition, Education and Training Departments, Clinical Skills, Wellness and Rehabilitation Centers, as well as Research Teams at DDI. This conference provided a golden opportunity for patients with diabetes to hear from the experts and directly ask questions to healthcare professionals and researchers who are leaders in the field of diabetes research and treatment. Conference attendees also had the chance to meet with other patients and families to share their experiences and to get support from others. A wide array of topics related to key aspects of diabetes, including the latest in diabetes research and evolving treatment strategies, diabetes misconceptions, healthy lifestyle, and a general overview of diabetes and coping strategies were covered during the conference.
