Joslin Diabetes Center in collaboration with Dasman Diabetes Institute delivered a diabetes education program in Kuwait for approximately 150 healthcare professionals including nurses, nutritionists, pharmacists and physicians where the majority of them work in the primary care clinics within the Kuwait Ministry of Health. The first series of the program was conducted over three days, from 13th till 15th February 2012.

The first part of the program focused on: Treatment Options, Acute Complications and Diabetes Assessment Skills. The program was based on practical knowledge and skills to enable the attendees to better understand the challenges of living with diabetes, complete a basic diabetes education assessment, identify key areas of need for diabetes education, teach blood glucose monitoring, basic insulin initiation skills and basic meal and exercise planning.

The program was aimed for nurses and others such as nutritionists, pharmacists, and physicians.

At the conclusion of the training program, attendees received certificates of attendance with 17 CME credits.
