The Clinical Research Department at the Dasman Diabetes Insitute (DDI), founded by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), hosted a three-day workshop from October 19th-21st, 2015 titled “Introduction to Clinical Trials & Clinical Trials Practice Course” (credited 16 CME points). The workshop was conducted by Dr. Alison Messom, MICR, Director of the Institute of Clinical Research in the UK. The aim of the course was to educate the participants on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in accordance with the legislations and regulations put forth in the UK and the rest of the world. All the attendees sat for the certification and/or diploma exams conducted at the end of the course. The attendees included medical doctors from the Ministry of Health and members from several departments at the Institute such as pharmacists, clinical and basic research scientists, and healthcare professionals.
The course was well received by all the attendees with high interest shown for repeating the course by those who were unable to attend this time around. There are current plans to repeat this beneficial workshop in the future based on its high demand and popularity.
