Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI) which was established by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) held recently a 2 day’s workshop titled “Knowledge Exchange & Advanced CGM”. The guest speaker of the workshop was Prof Goran Petrovski, from Macedonia in addition to Dr. Azza Shaltout, Consultant Paediatrician, Mrs. Faten Sukkar, Director of Education and Training, Ms. Abeer Samad, Insulin Pump Specialist, Fatima Ismail, Senior Dietitian, Dr. Diana Omar, Researcher and other healthcare specialists from DDI. The program was delivered twice over the periods 26th – 27th Jan., 2016 to Physicians and Pump Specialist Educators from Dasman Diabetes Institute and the Ministry of Health.

The workshop was targeted towards Health Care Professionals with experience in Insulin Pump Therapy and Continuous Glucose Monitoring. The Knowledge Exchange Workshop on Day 1 was a closed session for Dasman HCPs. The workshop covered the essential topic of Insulin Pump Clinics: Patient Selection, Attrition, Motivation and Consultation; particularly the transition from Pediatric to Adult clinics. A Discussion session was followed between Dasman HCPs and Pr. Petrovski on Insulin Pump and Sensor Experience in Dasman.

 

There was an opportunity in the knowledge exchange that highlighted the literature led by Dasman and the research undergone. The Workshop concluded with a discussion of CareLink Reports of patients both iPro2 and CareLink Pro.

The Advanced CGM Workshop on Day 2 highlighted the differences between Professional and Personal CGM and the eligibility criteria for each. Furthermore, the workshop presented an opportunity to discuss Real-life cases in Insulin Pump therapy and CGM.
