Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI), founded by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS), has signed an agreement with Cuba to bring 10 nurses to work at the Institute. They will be focusing on podiatry, as Cuban researchers found a way to treat the diabetic foot.

There are currently three Cuban doctors working in the Podiatry Clinic at DDI, which is the reason behind the formation of this recent collaboration. The available doctors at DDI have been able to treat 50 patients, who were suffering from diabetic foot problems, to date. Thankfully, all these patients have been given the ability to walk again, due to the exercise of these doctors’ great expertise.

Much gratitude is attributed to the embassies for facilitating this collaboration. Kuwait’s Ambassador to Cuba, H.E. Mr. Bader Al-Awadhi, praised this humanitarian act by the Cuban doctors at the Institute. Together, when such collaborations are made, populations will be saved, and the world will be healthier as a whole.
