Dasman Diabetes Institute celebrated the 1st anniversary of the DAFNE program established in Kuwait on the 16th of January 2012. The DAFNE Kuwait is the first programme of its kind in the Gulf and the Middle East for the education of people with type I diabetes to determine their insulin doses according to their diet. The event was held under the patronage of the Director General of the Dasman Diabetes Institute Kazem Behbehani, who hosted one of the founders of the programme, Prof. Simon Heller.
Dr. Ebaa Al-Ozairi, founder of the DAFNE programme in Kuwait along with Prof. Simon Heller congratulated the graduates of the programme as well as the core team for all their efforts in establishing the Kuwait chapter of the DAFNE UK programme.
Many of the graduates shared their experiences with the programme and all the graduates were awarded certificates of achievement for having maintained good blood glucose levels and successfully completing the course.
