In commemoration of the World Diabetes Day, Dasman Diabetes Institute, Ministry of Health and Landmark Group organized the third consecutive ‘Beat Diabetes’ Walkathon. More than six thousand participants joined the walkathon this year. All participants were given complimentary t-shirts and caps. Awareness pamphlets were distributed to educate the public about the diabetes.
The walkathon started at 9 a.m. on Saturday 17th November from the Yacht Club till the Green Island. Healthy snacks consisted of fruits and dairy products and sandwiches were served to the participants at the end of the walkathon.
The main aim of organizing the walkathon is to promote a healthy message to the public that exercise and adopting a healthy lifestyle is the best way to manage and control diabetes.
